John C. Getty

John focuses in the area of labor and employment law.

He represents employers regarding discrimination claims, wage and hour litigation, and investigations by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. John holds an extensive background in civil litigation, representing clients before state, federal, and administrative courts.

His experience includes litigating matters related to Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). John also counsels employers on avoiding employment litigation through effective internal practices and policies, including the use of tailored employee handbooks and thorough record-keeping.

Prior to joining the firm, John practiced in Louisiana for nine years.

Certification recognizes an attorney’s special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. It is designed to help consumers identify specialists in various areas of law. Only 6% of eligible Florida Bar members are board certified. Not all qualified lawyers are certified, but those who are board certified have taken extra steps to have their competence and experience evaluated.
