MICHAEL J. WILSON RE-ELECTED AS WILLIAMS PARKER FIRM PRESIDENT
SARASOTA, Florida, July 1, 2024 – Williams Parker, Sarasota’s largest law firm, is pleased to announce that Michael J. Wilson has been re-elected to a second term as firm president, a role he has held since 2021.
In his first term as president, Mr. Wilson oversaw the geographic expansion of the firm to include a Lakewood Ranch office at Waterside Place in addition to its downtown Sarasota headquarters. Marking an important milestone in its history, the firm then moved after five decades from its home at 200 South Orange Avenue to a new 35,000-square-foot office, occupying the entire eighth floor of the centrally located and iconic Plaza Five Points building. The new office at Plaza Five Points supports Williams Parker’s growth strategy and reinforces its brand and culture.
Looking ahead, Mr. Wilson plans to continue to pursue growth opportunities for Williams Parker, focusing on attracting and adding talent in strategic practice areas while remaining true to the guiding principles that have defined the firm for nearly 100 years – devotion to helping its clients succeed, delivering excellent client service, and serving the community. “I am extremely honored and humbled that my fellow partners have put their trust and confidence in me to lead Williams Parker for another three years,” said Mr. Wilson.
As a business and tax lawyer for more than 20 years, Mr. Wilson advises clients on business and tax planning and structuring. He handles and helps clients negotiate a wide range of business and corporate transactions, including business sales and acquisitions, mergers, restructuring, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital investments, corporate finance and credit facilities, tax-exempt bond financings, business succession, corporate governance, and other significant business and commercial transactions. He also serves as outside general counsel to businesses of varying sizes in many different industries. He is certified as a tax specialist by the Florida Bar and handles federal, state, and international tax planning and controversy matters.
Mr. Wilson joined the firm in 2002 and became a partner in 2007. He has served as a member of the firm’s management committee since 2009.
