Williams Parker Attorney Jennifer Fowler-Hermes Presents at Tiger Bay Panel on Medical Marijuana
Jennifer Fowler-Hermes, a labor and employment attorney with Williams Parker, recently participated in a panel discussion hosted by Sarasota Tiger Bay Club entitled “The Business of Marijuana.” The panel, moderated by Kevin Cooper, CEO of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, focused on how Sarasota will implement medical marijuana into the community. Ms. Fowler-Hermes joined Dr. Barry Gordon, chief physician of the Compassionate Cannabis Clinic of Venice, and Todd Beckwith, marketing director of Florida-based medical cannabis company AltMed. She discussed the employment law issues businesses may face as a result of the implementation of Florida’s medical marijuana amendment.
Ms. Fowler-Hermes is a board certified specialist in labor and employment law. She represents private, public, for-profit, and not-for-profit employers of all sizes in litigation matters and also assists employers in managing risks to avoid litigation. Her experience includes representing clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies in many employment matters, including claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, the Florida Uniform Trade Secrets Act, whistleblower/retaliation laws, and employment law torts. She also serves as a Florida Supreme Court certified circuit mediator.
