Williams Parker Partner Michael J. Wilson Appointed to Florida Bar Tax Section Leadership Roles
Williams Parker is pleased to announce attorney Michael J. Wilson has been appointed to serve as director of the Education Division and as a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee of the Florida Bar Tax Section for the 2020-2021 term. He also serves as a member of the Directors Committee and Executive Council and previously served as co-director of the Federal Tax Division and director of the Section Administration Division of the Florida Bar Tax Section.
A business and tax lawyer for more than 20 years, Mr. Wilson advises clients on tax and business planning and structuring. He handles and helps clients negotiate a wide range of business and corporate transactions, including business sales and acquisitions, mergers, restructurings, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital investments, corporate finance and credit facilities, tax-exempt bond financings, business succession, corporate governance, and other significant business and commercial transactions. He also serves as outside general counsel to businesses of varying sizes in many industries. He is certified as a tax specialist by the Florida Bar and handles federal, state, and international tax planning matters. Mr. Wilson also represents clients during the tax audit process, before the Internal Revenue Service Appeals Office, before the Internal Revenue Service National Office in requests for rulings and technical advice, before the Florida Department of Revenue in audits, appeals, and ruling requests, and before the United States Tax Court and the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. Mr. Wilson is a member of Williams Parker’s management committee and serves as the firm’s treasurer.
