The EEOC has announced that it once again pushed back the deadline for covered employers to submit and certify their 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection. The new deadline is August 23, 2021.

The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory annual data collection that focuses on demographic workforce data, including data by race/ethnicity, sex, and job categories.  As set forth on the EEOC’s website, all federal prime contractors or first tier subcontractors subject to executive Order 11246, as amended, with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria, as well as all private sector companies that meet one of the following criteria are required to file the EEO-1 report annually:

  • The company is subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, with 100 or more employees; or
  • The company is subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, with fewer than 100 employees, if the company is owned by or corporately affiliated with another company and the entire enterprise employs a total of 100 or more employees.
